Kofoid Claims Victory
Buddy Kofoid turned a fast night into a feature win at El Paso County Raceway in Calhan, Colorado, as he captured the World of Outlaws sprint car main event on Monday night. The win came in the series’ return to the track after a decade away. He set the fastest qualifying lap, won his heat race and rolled off second for the main event.
After starting second, Kofoid survived the restart and took the checkered flag. He had his 14th World of Outlaws win of the season and the 36th of his career, adding another result to an already productive year.
Gravel’s Final Lap
David Gravel led early and late in the race while trying to lap Bryce Lucius, and the battle at the front reached its most dramatic point on the final lap. Gravel and Lucius collided in that moment, and Gravel flipped in the incident. The crash brought out a red flag and sent the field to a restart.
The contact ended Gravel’s bid for the win. Lucius was part of the incident as Gravel tried to put him a lap down, and Kofoid survived the restart to take the victory.
Podium And Points
Steven Snyder Jr. finished second and earned his first career World of Outlaws podium. Chris Windom placed third, Donny Schatz came home fourth and Spencer Bayston finished fifth. Those five spots captured the official finishing order after the late crash.
The finish also affected the season picture for Gravel. His points lead was cut by 34 points and stood at 114 after the race.
