Cadillac to run Colton Herta in Mexico City practice

Bottas contract reassurance
Valtteri Bottas says Cadillac has told him his contract is “all OK” for 2027, a direct pushback against rumors that he could lose his seat after next season. The speculation has grown as his qualifying and race pace have dipped, but Bottas is pushing back on the latest noise. Cadillac has not scored a point in its debut Formula 1 season, and the team is still working through reliability problems.
Herta practice opportunity
Colton Herta is set to run first practice in Mexico City later this week. The session matters because Herta needs the Super Licence points that would make him eligible for Formula 1 next season. Cadillac is using the practice outing as a concrete step in that direction. Herta is being linked to a full-time Cadillac drive in 2027, and the Mexico City run gives him an opportunity to earn the points he needs.
Cadillac lineup
Cadillac’s driver search is still taking shape around Bottas, Herta and other names. Yuki Tsunoda is also being linked with the team and has emerged as another possible replacement. Tsunoda is another candidate after stepping in for three races for Red Bull when Isack Hadjar was injured. Esteban Ocon is available after losing his Haas seat to Rafael Camara for 2027, and he has been mentioned as a fallback option if Cadillac cannot reach agreements with its preferred targets. Even so, Ocon is not viewed as a serious candidate. Marcin Budkowski has declined to confirm whether Bottas or Sergio Perez have valid 2027 contracts, and he has said the lineup decisions will be announced officially at the proper time.
