South Point 400 recap
Briscoe took control of the South Point 400 on Sunday and never let it slip away. He beat Kyle Larson by 1.376 seconds after leading 175 of the 267 laps, and he swept both stages. The victory gave Briscoe his second NASCAR Cup Series win of the year and the seventh Cup win of his career. The result also moved him up two spots to sixth in the Chase standings with five races left.
Larson challenge
Kyle Larson finished second after a race that stayed within reach but never turned his way. Tyler Reddick finished third, Austin Cindric was fourth and Ryan Blaney took fifth. Larson hit the outside wall on the final lap and collected Reddick in the crash as the race wound down. The last-lap contact did not change the winner. Cindric and Blaney completed the top five.
Hamlin setback
Denny Hamlin started from the Busch Light pole and finished 16th. Hamlin spun in Stage 1, then dealt with splitter damage and fuel-pressure problems. He also scored no stage points. Larson left Las Vegas with a 40-point championship lead over Hamlin, while Hamlin finished the race after the early trouble.
