Corey Heim finished third in the No. 22 car in the ValleyStar Credit Union 300, then got caught in a post-race altercation at Martinsville Speedway that turned a hard-fought run into a frayed finish. The clash started on the final lap, when Heim made contact with Treyten Lapcevich while they were racing for the lead. Heim said Lapcevich tried to squeeze him into the curb before the contact. After the checkered flag, Heim hit Lapcevich again, and that second shot sent Lapcevich’s car airborne. Both cars were heavily damaged by the end of the exchange.

Martinsville aftermath

The confrontation spilled away from the cars and toward the infield hot dog stand, where Heim was punched multiple times by members of Chad Bryant Racing as he tried to back away. Chad Bryant began swinging as Heim retreated. Heim did not throw a punch back. No injuries were reported after the altercation, and a police officer escorted Heim from the scene. Heim later posted a thumbs-up selfie on X and joked about the incident.
