Dotson rallies
Ethan Dotson won Saturday’s World of Outlaws Late Model Series feature at Shelby County Speedway after he climbed from ninth and closed with a hard charge to the front. He made the move count on the final restart, then drove the high line over the last two laps to put himself in position for the finish.
Dotson won by a car length after a last-corner pass on the green-white-checkered restart. He got to Daulton Wilson’s outside off Turn 2 and cleared him exiting Turn 4. That late burst delivered Dotson’s first World of Outlaws win of the season and capped a run that kept him in striking distance through the closing laps.
Late restart
The decisive restart came after a late incident between Daulton Wilson and Bobby Pierce. Officials ruled Wilson the leader after the contact, then sent Pierce to the tail for the restart. That sequence set the stage for Dotson’s move when the race went back green.
Wilson came away second after Dotson’s pass at the line. Justin Duty finished third, Tristan Chamberlain took fourth and Nick Hoffman was fifth. The result gave Dotson the headline, but the finishing order also showed how much the late caution changed the shape of the race in its final stretch.
