Fermin Aldeguer returns for Qatar Grand Prix after hand injury

NXTbets Pro | Published On: November 4, 2026

Aldeguer returns to Qatar

Fermin Aldeguer returns to action at the Qatar Grand Prix this weekend after a broken bone in his right hand sidelined him from racing. The injury came after a crash at the Indonesian Grand Prix, and his comeback gives him a chance to rejoin the MotoGP field after missing time with the hand problem. Aldeguer’s return is one of the main personnel updates heading into the Qatar round, where several riders are still managing injuries and recovery timelines.

The changing roster highlights how quickly the rider lineup can shift from one round to the next in MotoGP. The grid is still dealing with a string of medical setbacks and replacement decisions across the paddock, making Qatar another test of team depth.

Marquez out, Lecuona in

Alex Marquez will remain sidelined for the Qatar Grand Prix after surgery following the Malaysian Grand Prix, and Iker Lecuona will step in as his replacement. The switch keeps Marquez out of the lineup for another round and gives Lecuona another MotoGP opportunity, with this weekend set to be his fifth MotoGP weekend of the season. Marquez is hoping to return in Portugal, which gives a clearer target for his comeback as he continues to recover from the surgery that followed the Malaysian Grand Prix.

The rider change adds another moving part to the Qatar weekend, where teams are already adjusting to absences and late changes. For Marquez, the focus stays on recovery and the longer view as he works back from the setback. The situation leaves the team with a short-term answer in Qatar and a longer-term recovery plan.

Other Qatar absences

Raúl Fernández was expected to attempt a comeback at the Qatar MotoGP this weekend after fracturing two fingers in a Sprint crash at the Indonesian MotoGP in October. Joan Mir was also likely to miss the Qatar Grand Prix after his vision and weakness problems resurfaced in Malaysia, and Jake Dixon was expected to replace him. Jorge Martín remained a question mark after fracturing his radius at Phillip Island and withdrawing in Sepang, leaving his status unclear for Qatar as the weekend approached.

Yamaha was also set to miss the Qatar round because of its travel policy for the Middle East, adding another absence to the event. The range of absences leaves Qatar with a field shaped by recovery, replacements and unresolved fitness questions. The mix could make late lineup decisions important before the first session begins.
