Mark Walter weighs Delaware Life sale as TWG Global restructures

NXTbets Pro | Published On: November 4, 2026

Delaware Life sale

Mark Walter has explored selling Delaware Life, a $71 billion insurer, as TWG Global works through a broader restructuring. The review came after a federal investigation into Walter’s investment empire, making the insurer part of a wider review of his holdings. Walter has agreed to sell his stake in Chelsea FC and his stakes in the Los Angeles Lakers, while he is also fielding offers for his stake in the Cadillac Formula 1 team. Those moves are part of the broader restructuring inside TWG Global, where Walter is weighing which assets to keep and which to unload. Delaware Life is now part of that review, alongside the sports transactions already announced.

Sports holdings

Walter’s sports assets have become a prominent part of the restructuring. TWG Global said the Los Angeles Dodgers were not being sold, even as potential bidders, including L.A. Times owner Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, monitor the situation. That leaves the Dodgers in a separate category from the assets Walter has already agreed to move, and it keeps the baseball club out of the immediate sale process. The Lakers and Chelsea are already part of separate planned transactions, while Walter is fielding offers for his stake in the Cadillac Formula 1 team. TWG Global declined to clarify how its August statements about the Dodgers and Cadillac Formula 1 team fit together, leaving the structure of the broader overhaul unclear. The sports holdings are therefore divided between properties Walter has agreed to sell or is considering selling and the Dodgers, which TWG Global says are not being sold.

Federal investigation

The pressure behind those sales is tied to the federal investigation and the civil lawsuits involving Walter’s insurance companies. Walter is under federal investigation and facing multiple civil lawsuits involving his insurance companies, and those problems have put his business decisions under a sharper spotlight. Selling sports assets could help him raise more than $20 billion to recapitalize those businesses and satisfy regulators. A sale of Delaware Life would add another possible transaction to the restructuring involving the Lakers, Chelsea and the Cadillac Formula 1 team. TWG Global said the Lakers deal was not a “fire sale” and denied wrongdoing in connection with it. The Dodgers, meanwhile, are not being sold according to TWG Global. Delaware Life remains part of the unresolved restructuring, with Walter considering whether to sell the insurer.
