Scelzi won Lakeside feature

Giovanni Scelzi won the $15,000-to-win High Limit Racing feature at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas, and he did it in commanding fashion. Scelzi led all 30 laps from the front row and never gave up the top spot on his way to the checkered flag. The victory was his third career win at Lakeside Speedway and gave Spire Motorsports its second win of the season. Daison Pursley chased him to the finish and crossed the line 0.189 seconds back in second. Brady Bacon took third, Tanner Holmes finished fourth and Tyler Courtney came home fifth. The crash was one of the defining moments of the event, and it came in a race that had been controlled at the front by Scelzi almost from the start.

Reutzel crash shook field

The race turned rough when Aaron Reutzel set off a nine-car crash that sent several cars flipping, including his own. The wreck also involved Tanner Holmes, Rico Abreu, Joel Myers Jr. and Kerry Madsen, putting multiple contenders in the same incident. All of the drivers climbed out on their own, a positive sign after a pileup that could have ended the night much differently. Myers was taken to the ambulance after the crash. The incident changed the shape of the feature and added another layer of tension to an already busy night at Lakeside. Holmes still recovered to finish fourth. The crash was one of the defining moments of the event, and it came in a race that had been controlled at the front by Scelzi almost from the start.

Abreu led title chase

Rico Abreu’s night ended with a disqualification after his crew added fuel to his damaged car in the work area under yellow-flag conditions. He had been listed 25th in the final results before the disqualification changed the order. The penalty kept the championship picture tight with one event left. Abreu still led Scelzi by 45 points and Reutzel by 77 points, putting him in position to decide the title at All-In Championship Weekend in Fort Worth. Abreu remained the points leader heading into the final event. The season was nearing its finish with the championship still open and the top contenders separated by a slim margin.
