Rico Abreu won the High Limit Racing championship as Scelzi swept Texas

Abreu claimed title

Abreu left Texas Motor Speedway with the 2026 Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing championship. Abreu secured the title by 31 points and closed the season with his second straight High Limit Racing championship. The result came after a weekend that kept the title fight tight through the final races at Texas, where Scelzi cut into the deficit with a pair of strong runs and Abreu answered with the finishes he needed to protect the points lead.

Scelzi won Friday

Scelzi opened the weekend by winning Friday night’s 25-lap feature at Texas Motor Speedway. He started seventh, raced to the front and passed Abreu for the lead on lap 18. Tyler Courtney finished second after starting 11th, and Abreu took third after leading laps 13 through 17. The victory gave Scelzi his second straight series win and his third win of the season, and it trimmed the gap to 36 points heading into the season finale. That move set up one last title push on Saturday, with the championship still in play.

Scelzi swept Texas

Scelzi finished the job Saturday night by winning the 30-lap season finale at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth and completing a weekend sweep. He led every lap and held off Abreu in a last-lap duel, winning by 0.202 seconds. Abreu finished second, and Brent Marks took third. The result gave Scelzi the clean sweep at Texas, but Abreu’s runner-up finish was enough to seal the championship by 31 points. The weekend also brought a combined $50,000 in winnings for Spire Motorsports, a fitting end to a Texas stop that produced a race win, a title and a decisive finish to the High Limit Racing season.
