Sheldon Haudenschild Reels In Williamson for Wilmot Victory

Haudenschild wins Wilmot

Sheldon Haudenschild won the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series’ O’Reilly Auto Parts Presents The Larry Hillerud Memorial finale Saturday night at Wilmot Raceway in Wisconsin. The result came after a hard, late run from Garet Williamson, who led early and forced Haudenschild to chase him through the closing laps. Haudenschild finished the job with two laps remaining and secured his 52nd career World of Outlaws victory. The win added another strong night to a season stretch that has kept Haudenschild and KCP Racing near the front. It also gave the team another result to add to its recent surge, with the group now riding four wins in its last seven races. The event itself turned into a straight-up sprint-car battle from the front of the field, with Williamson controlling the early pace and Haudenschild working back into striking distance as the laps wound down. Once Haudenschild got to the lead, the race moved to the familiar demands of clean air, traffic control and quick decisions under pressure. He handled the final restart of momentum and claimed another win for a team that has stayed in form through the summer run.

Late-race battle at Wilmot

The final laps delivered the sharpest racing of the night. Haudenschild and Williamson traded slide jobs and crossover moves as they fought for control of the front spot. That back-and-forth set up the finish, and Haudenschild made the decisive pass with two laps left. Williamson stayed close but had to settle for second after leading early and spending the final laps under direct pressure. David Gravel finished third, Spencer Bayston took fourth and Logan Schuchart crossed in fifth, giving the race a familiar lineup of World of Outlaws regulars near the front. The finish line order reflected a race that tightened as the distance dropped. Williamson built the early advantage. Haudenschild answered it in the late stages. The exchange between the two drivers gave the feature its edge and made the closing stretch the most competitive part of the night. Haudenschild did not need a runaway pace to win. He needed precision, patience and one final move at the right time. He got that move, and it was enough to decide the finale.

KCP Racing rolls on

The win also reinforced the recent form of Haudenschild and KCP Racing. Their latest result pushed them to 10 podiums in their last 12 Features, a run that shows how often they have stayed in contention even when they do not win. That level of consistency has made each start count and kept them part of the main conversation on the tour. The race at Wilmot fit that pattern. Haudenschild did not grab the lead right away, but he kept closing the gap and forced the issue when the race opened up in the final laps. The team leaves Wisconsin with another trophy and another boost to its recent record. The World of Outlaws series now heads into a two-race Ohio swing. Attica Raceway Park hosts the next stop on Tuesday, and Eldora Speedway follows on Friday and Saturday. Those races give the series another chance to reset after Wilmot and give Haudenschild another shot to build on a strong stretch that has already produced a steady stream of podiums and wins.
