He started third in the feature and moved forward the hard way, first passing Tim McCreadie for second and then taking the lead from Dallon Murty. From there, Hoffman did the work expected of a front-runner and closed out the race for his seventh series win of the season. The rest of the finish showed how demanding the event was. Bobby Pierce climbed all the way to second after starting in the Last Chance Showdown and rallying from 17th. McCreadie ended up third, Dennis Erb Jr. was fourth and Jason Feger rounded out the top five. Friday’s run mattered for Hoffman beyond the trophy. It was his first win at the Pevely track on the World of Outlaws Late Model Series, and it came in a race where he had to pass proven names to get to the front. Hoffman’s Season Push
The two wins also changed the way Hoffman sits in the series record book and sharpened the picture of his season. The Friday victory moved him into a tie with Jonathan Davenport for 15th on the World of Outlaws Late Model Series all-time wins list with 18 wins. The Saturday triumph pushed that total to eight series wins for the season, a pace that keeps him among the most productive drivers on tour. The weekend also showed the range of his performance. On Saturday he started farther back than the front row, moved to the lead on Lap 18 and then protected it when the caution turned the final stretch into a short sprint. The series will next head to Boothill Speedway for the Bayou Classic, with Hoffman carrying the momentum of a weekend that gave him both a track sweep.
