Jake Swanson wins USAC Sprint Car feature at Lawrenceburg Speedway

Swanson seizes Lawrenceburg

Jake Swanson won the USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship feature at Lawrenceburg Speedway and did it with a late move that settled the race. Swanson started fourth in the 30-lap feature, worked his way into contention and then found the opening he needed in lapped traffic with four laps remaining. He slipped past Kyle Cummins at the right moment, took command and held on to beat Briggs Danner by 0.257 seconds. The win gave Swanson his first career victory at Lawrenceburg Speedway, a track where he had piled up five previous USAC podium finishes without getting to victory lane. It also pushed his 2026 total to three USAC victories and lifted his career mark to 10 USAC wins. The result fit a race that asked for patience and timing. Swanson had to wait for the opening before making the move that changed everything. Once he got by Cummins, he held the lead to the finish and left with another victory for his 2026 campaign.

Cummins leads early

Kyle Cummins controlled the first 26 laps and set the pace for most of the feature before late traffic changed the shape of the finish. He stayed out front through the opening stretch and looked in command for most of the night, but late traffic slowed him at a critical moment. That gave Swanson a chance to close, and once the lead changed hands, Cummins could not get back to the front. He finished third after being slowed late by traffic, which turned what had been a race he controlled into a podium run instead of a win. Briggs Danner finished second, just behind Swanson at the line, and that margin of 0.257 seconds showed how little room separated the top two at the end. C.J. Leary took fourth and Mitchel Moles finished fifth, giving the feature a top five behind the front-runners. Justin Grant set the pace in qualifying and earned fast-qualifier honors for the event.

USAC heads to Fall Nationals

The win added to Swanson’s 2026 record and made his breakthrough at Lawrenceburg stand out even more. Three victories in one season give him a notable 2026 total, while 10 career USAC wins mark a significant career milestone. He had shown he could run near the front at Lawrenceburg before, and the victory finally matched the results he had already posted at the speedway. The race also underscored how quickly a feature can change when traffic comes into play. Swanson waited for his chance, and the late pass decided the finish. Lawrenceburg now shifts back into focus for the next USAC National Sprint Car race, the Fall Nationals, and Swanson will arrive with a new win at one of the tracks that had eluded him and a result that marked another point in his 2026 season.
