Stewards’ ruling
The stewards ruled Lance Stroll was not at fault for the Turn 16 collision with Sergio Perez in the Singapore Sprint, ending the incident with no further action after their postrace review. The stewards examined video and in-car evidence before deciding Stroll took a reasonable line into the corner. Perez and Stroll both retired from the race after the opening-lap crash in wet conditions.
Perez and Stroll
Perez said he was on the inside and expected Stroll to leave room when he moved to close the door. He said the rain offered an opportunity in the sprint and said he was surprised by the contact. Stroll said he had not yet reviewed the incident and only knew he had been hit. He also downplayed how hard the wet race was before the clash ended his sprint.
Singapore Sprint
The crash helped turn a rain-affected sprint into a race of survival. Stroll spun into the barrier after the contact, while Perez limped back to the pits before stopping. The sprint produced nine retirements in all, with George Russell and Oscar Piastri among the drivers who also failed to finish.
