Allgaier stays with JR Motorsports
Justin Allgaier will return to JR Motorsports on a multiyear deal that begins in 2027, keeping him in the No. 7 Chevrolet in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series. The agreement gives the team continuity and guarantees Allgaier at least two more seasons in the series. It also changes the path he had laid out for himself, because he had previously said 2026 would be his final season with JR Motorsports. The new deal changes that retirement plan and extends the partnership. In a team video, Allgaier said he was “not quite ready yet” to retire. That line matches the decision. He had talked about stepping away at age 40, but this contract keeps him on track for more racing instead of a quick exit. JR Motorsports gets continuity. Allgaier gets more time behind the wheel.
Retirement talk shifts for Allgaier
Kelley Earnhardt-Miller said Allgaier had been considering retirement, and she pointed to his strong 2026 season as one reason the discussion came up. Family responsibilities played a part too, and those duties are tied to D&M Speed Shop, the business Allgaier is expected to run eventually. Allgaier has built a résumé that explains why the choice mattered. He won the 2024 series championship, has 34 career series wins and ranks sixth all-time in that category. He has also won at least once in every season since 2017. The extension keeps that streak alive with JR Motorsports and gives him more time before he moves into the next stage of his career.
