NASCAR title race heads to Homestead finale

NXTbets Pro | Published On: November 5, 2026

Homestead title race

The 2026 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series championship comes down to Homestead-Miami Speedway, where the final points-paying race of the season is set for 5 p.m. ET and covers 200 laps. Five drivers still have a mathematical path to the title, and the margins are tight enough to keep the field under pressure from the start. After 32 races, Justin Allgaier holds the lead over Jesse Love by 22 points, Corey Day by 23, Carson Kvapil by 31 and Sheldon Creed by 42. Homestead also brings a familiar stage back into the spotlight, since it is hosting Championship Weekend for NASCAR’s national series for the first time since 2019.

The race format gives every lap weight. With the championship on the line, the contenders do not have the luxury of waiting for help from the rest of the field. Allgaier enters with the points advantage. Love sits close enough to make the fight a real one. Day, Kvapil and Creed each need help, but the race remains within reach for all five. That creates a straight title scenario at Homestead, where track position, execution and clean runs through traffic can swing the outcome quickly. The order is still unsettled.

Allgaier advantage

Allgaier brings the strongest Homestead résumé among the championship contenders. He has the most experience at the track, and he arrives with six wins this season, a personal best, along with 19 top-five finishes. He also reclaimed the championship lead after Martinsville, which pushed him back in front at the right time of the year. That combination gives him the cleanest path into the finale. He has speed, results and a track history that lines up with what the team needs in the final race.

His Homestead record adds another layer to the picture. Allgaier is the defending winner at the track, giving him a recent reference point. The event is a 200-lap test, and that length gives drivers room to move forward or fall back, depending on how they handle the first half of the race and the closing stretch. Allgaier’s season has already shown he can stack up top results. His current cushion means he controls the title picture more than anyone else in the field. The championship still runs through Homestead, but the points edge belongs to him.

Chase group

Love is the closest challenger and the defending champion, so he enters the finale with a direct line to the title and a recent history of finishing the job. He has two wins this season and five podium finishes in the playoffs, which shows he has stayed in the mix when the stakes have climbed. He also has two previous top-six finishes at Homestead, a record that gives him a workable base at the track where the season ends. Love does not carry the points lead, but he remains close enough to apply pressure if the race develops his way.

Day adds a different angle to the battle. He is making his first championship push and has limited Homestead experience, yet the recent team momentum gives him a chance to matter. That matters in a finale where one strong run can change the entire outlook. Kvapil and Creed enter with larger points deficits, but both bring recent speed into the race. That keeps them in the conversation if the front-runners stumble or if the race opens up late. Creed remains mathematically alive for the championship and could become a spoiler if he runs near the front, which gives the race another layer of tension beyond the top of the standings. The path is narrow for everyone except Allgaier. Love has the track record to keep pushing. Day, Kvapil and Creed need the right sequence of events. Homestead will decide whether the points lead holds or the finale turns into a late upset.
