Marc Márquez Seeks ‘New 100%’ After Seven Shoulder Surgeries

Marc Márquez is chasing what he calls his “new 100%” as he continues to deal with the aftermath of the right arm injury he suffered at the Indonesian Grand Prix. He shared personal photos from the past few weeks, including images from the MotoGP Aragon Grand Prix, and one picture showed his right arm looking visibly sunken next to his left. Márquez said he has undergone seven surgeries on his right shoulder. In May, he had surgery to relieve a compressed radial nerve. He said the nerve problem came from previous metalwork in his shoulder, and doctors removed two screws from his arm during the operation. Márquez said the nerve is now working normally, but he is still dealing with the aftermath of the injury.

After finishing seventh at the British MotoGP, he said he was not physically able to push at full intensity for an entire weekend. He also said he had no control over his right arm during that event. Márquez said he needs to manage his effort on Fridays so he can be stronger on Saturdays and Sundays.

Márquez backed up that recovery work at Aragon, where he won both the Sprint and the Grand Prix. The sweep extended his unbeaten record at the track with Ducati since 2024 and moved him into second in the MotoGP standings. He now trails Aprilia rider Jorge Martin by 19 points, and he remains in the fight for the title.
