Overtime and Rain Shape Finish
The Desert Diamond Casino West Valley 100 at Phoenix Raceway stretched from 100 laps to 114 after contact with Andrew Chapman sent it into overtime, then a light sprinkle became persistent rain and officials ended it under caution. Reaves led 90 of the 114 laps. Taylor Reimer finished second, 0.072 seconds behind. Mason Massey was third. Reaves’ victory came in Joe Gibbs Racing’s final ARCA Menards Series start, a fitting close to the team’s run in the series.
Reimer Leads, Massey Gains
Reimer’s runner-up finish carried its own weight. She led 24 laps, the first laps she had ever led in ARCA Menards Series platform competition. Massey used his third-place run to gain four points on Trevor Huddleston in the championship fight. Huddleston finished seventh after coming into the ARCA Menards Series West finale at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway with a 39-point lead over Massey. Huddleston still held the edge going into the finale.
Qualifying Sets Record
Reaves also set the pace before the green flag. He won the pole with a lap of 27.683 seconds at 130.044 mph. Jade Avedisian was second in qualifying, just 0.012 seconds behind him, and Reimer lined up third. Gavan Boschele qualified fourth and Mia Lovell fifth. Hailie Deegan started eighth in the 25-car field. The race also carried a historic note, because six women were in the lineup, the most ever in ARCA Menards Series West competition. That gave the event depth before the late-race overtime and rain reshaped the finish.
