How the Singapore Sprint unfolded
Max Verstappen won the rain-hit Singapore Sprint after heavy rain delayed the start by 30 minutes and forced the race into mixed wet-and-dry conditions. Lewis Hamilton finished second, Charles Leclerc took third and Kimi Antonelli came home fourth. George Russell briefly moved ahead of Verstappen at the start before crashing out. Russell called the crash a “very silly mistake” and said he “misjudged it.”
Hamilton charges in the wet
Hamilton said his wet-weather “mega start” was the key to his second-place finish. He passed both McLarens and Leclerc on the opening lap before finishing behind only Verstappen. Hamilton also pointed to Ferrari’s overall pace after the race, saying the team had a strong car and could fight Mercedes and Red Bull if qualifying went better.
Leclerc struggles, McLarens collide
Leclerc struggled on his intermediate tires as the track dried, but still finished third. Behind him, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri collided on the final lap. Norris still finished eighth. Antonelli finished fourth as Verstappen took the win.
