Pursley controlled Silver Crown
Daison Pursley turned Friday’s performance into the night’s biggest statement at the 4-Crown Nationals. He backed up that run by winning the pole in qualifying with a 16.428-second lap, then kept the field behind him through the feature to finish the job. The result gave Pursley a strong Silver Crown performance.
C.J. Leary was the other major winner in the Silver Crown story. He finished fifth in the feature and clinched his first USAC Silver Crown driving championship with one race left. Team AZ Racing/Petty-Rossi/Curb-Agajanian also walked away with a title of its own, securing its first Silver Crown entrant championship. The combination of Pursley’s dominant race, Leary’s title-clinching finish and the team crown gave the Silver Crown program a full night of high-end results for drivers and teams alike.
Timms swept High Limit
Ryan Timms turned Friday night’s High Limit Racing Night BeFour the Crowns Showdown at Eldora Speedway into a personal breakthrough. He led all 25 laps of the Interstate Batteries A-Main, earned $12,000 and collected the first Eldora Speedway win of his career. Timms and the Liebig Motorsports No. 10 team also took care of every stage of the night, sweeping qualifying, the heat race, the dash and the A-main. That kind of clean run separated Timms from the rest of the field and made the victory one of the most complete performances of the weekend.
Giovanni Scelzi gave the standings race a boost with his runner-up finish. Tanner Holmes followed in third and Brady Bacon took fourth, giving the feature a strong mix of contenders near the front. Scelzi also used the result to trim his deficit in the series standings. With six series events left, he cut the gap to 14 points behind Aaron Reutzel for second. Parker Price-Miller added another Friday winner to the event list by taking the Great Lakes Super Sprints feature at the 42nd running of the 4-Crown Nationals, giving the opening night card another headline performance before the weekend moved deeper into its final races.
Abreu won finale
Rico Abreu closed the 4-Crown Nationals finale by winning the 30-lap High Limit Racing main event after a back-and-forth fight with Aaron Reutzel and Scelzi. The race gave the weekend one more hard-run feature and kept the front of the field packed with familiar names. Abreu finished the job in the final High Limit race of the event and left Eldora with the top spot in a main event that stayed tight at the front.
The finale also included a major incident when a red flag flew for Pursley’s flip during the High Limit main event. That pause broke up the rhythm of the race, but the action resumed and Abreu held on through the pressure. The 4-Crown also produced a strong showing in the 410 Sprint Non-Wing feature, where Kyle Cummins won from the third starting spot. Justin Grant finished second and Jake Swanson crossed third. Together, those results rounded out a weekend that spread major wins across multiple divisions while giving the event a long list of feature winners, title clinchers and standout runs.
