Day won at Ventura
Day won the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series’ Battle at the Beach at Ventura Raceway in Ventura, California, and he did it in the series’ first-ever race at the track. Day drove the Jason Meyers Racing No. 14 to the victory. He took quick time in qualifying and then backed it up by setting a new track record before the 40-lap feature began.
Late restart lifted Day
The feature turned on a late restart and a hard charge through the field. Day used that restart to move from fourth to second, then set his sights on Steven Snyder Jr. Day passed Snyder on lap 22 to take the lead in the 40-lap feature, and that move gave him the position he needed for the rest of the run. Snyder had started on the front row and led early, but Day closed the gap, found the opening and took control at the right moment.
From there, Day had to manage pressure from behind and keep the front of the race steady. Sheldon Haudenschild finished second and Bill Balog was third, so the final stretch gave Day no room to relax. Emerson Axsom finished fourth and Michael Kofoid was fifth, adding more quality to the top end of the order. Day kept the lead through the closing laps and stayed ahead of Haudenschild and Balog long enough to secure the win.
Snyder’s night changed again on lap 37 when he hit the wall and brought out another caution. He finished 13th. By then, the race had already swung in Day’s favor, and the final caution only reinforced how much control he had after the lap 22 pass. The result came with pace, patience and a timely move when the front of the field tightened.
Ventura streak reached three
The win gave Day his second World of Outlaws victory of 2026 and the fifth win of his career. It also stretched his winning streak at Ventura to three races, a run that includes two straight Turkey Night Grand Prix victories in USAC National Midgets. That streak gives Ventura a familiar feel for Day even though the series had never raced there before this event.
The victory also completed a three-race California swing for Day. He finished second in his first two races back in the state earlier in the week, then closed the trip with a win at Ventura. That progression gave the week a clear finish, with Day turning strong starts into the result he wanted at the end. His run through California ended with a feature win and another victory in the state.
