Abreu charged from fourth and won the 4-Crown Nationals finale at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, giving him his sixth career 4-Crown Nationals title. The race moved through three leaders before Abreu took command. Ryan Timms led the first seven laps, Aaron Reutzel took over for laps 8 through 12 and Abreu grabbed the lead on Lap 13. From there, he settled into control and held off the field. Giovanni Scelzi made a late run and briefly challenged again near the end, but Abreu crossed the finish line 1.937 seconds ahead. Scelzi finished second, Timms was third, Reutzel took fourth and Tanner Holmes rounded out the top five. The result gave Abreu his 15th career win at Eldora.
Abreu strengthens lead
The victory carried plenty of weight beyond one checkered flag. It was Abreu’s third straight 4-Crown Nationals finale victory with Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing, his eighth High Limit Racing win of the season and his 33rd career trip to Whiskey Myers Victory Lane. Those numbers show how much success he has piled up at Eldora and across the series. With five races left, Abreu led the High Limit standings by 111 points over Reutzel, the driver who had held the lead from laps 8 through 12 before Abreu took over. High Limit Racing was set to move to Kokomo Speedway the next day. The win secured the trophy, protected the points lead and added another win to a season already filled with them.
