Suzuki signs Roczen for 2027 Supercross season

NXTbets Pro | Published On: October 30, 2026

Roczen returns

Suzuki locked in Ken Roczen for another run at the 450SX championship, announcing that he will return to the AWM Fulfillment PMG Suzuki presented by Progressive/Cycle Gear team for the 2027 Supercross season. Roczen will defend his title aboard the RM-Z450, keeping him on the same team and the same bike as he chases another premier-class crown. The move answers the biggest question around his offseason, since he had not said whether he would race in 2027. Roczen said that if he returned, he would bring the same fire and focus that carried him through 2026, and Suzuki now has him back in place for the next title defense. His championship defense will begin at Angel Stadium in Anaheim when the Supercross season opens, and the team’s decision gives it a clear centerpiece for the year ahead. The announcement also gives Suzuki a chance to build around the rider who delivered the company’s first 450SX title in more than a decade.

Roczen’s 2026 title

Roczen’s return comes after one of the strongest seasons of his career. He won the 2026 AMA Supercross championship, his first premier-class Supercross title, with five victories and 12 podiums. He finished the job by overcoming a 31-point deficit after 10 of 17 rounds, a run that showed both consistency and resilience across the full championship distance. The title mattered for Roczen and Suzuki, because it marked the rider’s first top-level Supercross crown and ended a long wait for the brand in the premier class. Suzuki’s last major title before Roczen’s 2026 championship came with his 2016 AMA Pro Motocross 450MX crown. Its last 450SX title before Roczen’s run came when Ryan Dungey won in 2010. Roczen’s season put him back at the center of the class and gave Suzuki a championship to build on as the team heads into another year with him in the fold. The way he closed out the season, with wins and podium finishes piling up, set the tone for the next phase of his career.

Roczen’s schedule

Roczen’s path to the 2027 Supercross season will not begin in the background. Before the new campaign starts, he is set to race the Auckland AUS-X Supercross, the AUS-X Open in Melbourne and Paris Supercross. That schedule keeps him active across multiple events and gives him more racing before he turns his focus fully to defending his 450SX title. He is also racing in New Zealand this weekend, another stop that fits into a busy stretch before the Supercross opener. The calendar shows a rider who is staying in competition mode rather than waiting for the championship to come back around. For Suzuki, that matters because Roczen will arrive at the start of the season with races already behind him and the same team structure he used to win the 2026 championship. The focus now shifts to whether he can carry that form into another title defense, with the RM-Z450 underneath him and a full season ahead.
