Madring operations
The testing was about more than lap times. Officials used the running to check race control, communications, marshal operations, medical services and recovery procedures in live conditions, which is the kind of work that can expose problems long before race weekend arrives. Nearly 20 stoppages interrupted the test period because of off-track excursions and other issues, giving the circuit and its support crews repeated chances to react and reset. That is a useful result for a new venue, since the early laps were never going to be clean, and the response to disruption can matter as much as the pace itself. Madring pace
Ugo Ugochukwu set the early benchmark with a 1:49.034 lap and finished second overall in the test, 0.193 seconds quicker than Hiyu Yamakoshi in the morning run. Freddie Slater then went fastest overall with a 1:49.685 lap and left Madring on top of the Formula 3 standings by eight points with two rounds left. The lap times showed that speed came quickly at the new circuit, but Slater’s comments pointed to a track that asks for more than raw pace. He called Madring “incredible” and said it had old-school character, which is a strong sign for a brand-new venue trying to win over drivers. He also singled out the Turn 5-6 chicane as a highlight, describing it as both enjoyable and a valuable learning ground for teams. That blend of fast corners, technical sections and a banked turn gives Madring a clear identity before its first grand prix. Ugochukwu’s early pace, Slater’s overall speed and Yamakoshi’s close gap all suggest the circuit has already delivered what organizers wanted, a genuine first look at where the competitive edge may sit when Formula One arrives.
