StubHub lands multi-year deal with World Racing Group

StubHub and World Racing Group signed a multi-year partnership that makes StubHub the company’s Official Open Distribution Partner across a full season of World Racing Group events. The deal covers the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series, the World of Outlaws Late Model Series and the Super DIRTcar Series, with fans able to buy tickets through the series websites and StubHub.

Under the Open Distribution model, World Racing Group keeps ownership of its ticketing operations, fan data and event branding. The partnership also gives World Racing Group access to StubHub’s global marketplace of more than 125 million fans in more than 200 countries and territories. The agreement includes exclusive fan offers such as driver meet-and-greets and collectible pins.

StubHub is also the presenting sponsor of Super DIRT Week. The event is scheduled for its 54th running and 10th year at Oswego Speedway from Oct. 5-10. The Billy Whittaker Cars 200 is the main event, with a $54,000 prize.

Ryan Gustin Returns to Defend USA Nationals Title

The World of Outlaws Late Model Series heads to Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin, this weekend for the USA Nationals, a $100,000-to-win race that is the series’ second crown jewel event in as many weeks. Last year’s race delivered the first $100,000 payday in USA Nationals history, and Ryan Gustin returns as the defending winner.

Much of the attention centers on Bobby Pierce, who is trying to win the USA Nationals for a third straight year. A victory would move him within one win of the World of Outlaws single-season win record of 18. Trey Mills, 18, is set for his first USA Nationals start after strong runs in the Dream and the Prairie Dirt Classic.

Brandon Sheppard also enters on a high note after winning his fourth Prairie Dirt Classic last weekend. He previously won the USA Nationals in 2018. The weekend opens Thursday with a $10,000 feature, followed by qualifying and heat races Friday that will set much of Saturday’s 100-lap lineup. Last Chance races are scheduled Saturday to fill the field.

PLL, WLL and NLL unveil Lexus Global Lacrosse Games

The Premier Lacrosse League, Women’s Lacrosse League and National Lacrosse League announced the Lexus Global Lacrosse Games, a four-country international tournament that will be played under Olympic Sixes rules. World Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse have sanctioned the event, which is modeled in part on the NHL’s 4 Nations Face-Off and the World Baseball Classic.

The tournament is scheduled for Dec. 8-13, 2026, at The St. James outside Washington, D.C. It will run in the same sixes format set for lacrosse’s return to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, and for the first time the PLL and NLL will work together to make top men’s players from both leagues available to represent their countries.

PLL cofounder and president Paul Rabil said the league hopes the United States and Canada will participate, with Japan and Australia among the other possible entrants. He declined to confirm a broadcast partner. The Lexus Global Lacrosse Games will replace the PLL and WLL Championship Series on the calendar for the next two years, and the announcement follows the PLL’s recent $100 million Series E financing round led by Joe Tsai and Ares.

Domenicali says F1 may end 2026 in Europe if risks persist

Formula 1 has put contingency plans in place for its 2026 calendar as uncertainty continues around the season-ending races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi because of conflict in the Middle East. Stefano Domenicali said the current plan still stands for now, but if safety and logistical concerns do not improve, the championship would finish in Europe rather than be moved to another region. A final decision is due by mid-September, and Qatar and Abu Dhabi are currently confirmed and sold out.

The schedule has already changed several times. Bahrain and Saudi Arabia were canceled earlier this year, and Formula 1 then arranged to move the Bahrain Grand Prix to Sepang in Malaysia on Oct. 4, pending final approval. That move restored the calendar to 23 rounds, or at least ensures 21 race weekends if the final two races are dropped. F1 had initially hoped to shift Bahrain into an early October slot to create a triple-header with Azerbaijan and Singapore, but that plan did not work out.

If another change is needed, Imola in Italy is the leading fallback venue, with Portimao and Istanbul also under consideration. Domenicali said Europe is the only realistic alternative because of logistics, including Brexit-related documentation, and ruled out adding another race in the United States or North America. The uncertainty grew after the World Endurance Championship moved its Qatar and Bahrain races to Barcelona and Monza because of security and freight-and-travel concerns. Formula 1 still wants a race after the Nov. 21 Las Vegas Grand Prix, and officials said contingency plans are in place for both 2026 and 2027.

F1 says fan support rises despite driver criticism

Formula 1’s 2026 engine rules have become a major source of division halfway through the season, as the sport’s electric-heavy power units and energy-management system draw criticism from drivers even while F1 says fan feedback has been broadly positive. Formula 1 said 66% of 60,000 fans in its Fan Voice survey rated races as good or excellent, up from 60% last year. CEO Stefano Domenicali said fans remain the sport’s top priority, said he understands the drivers’ criticism, and argued that technical issues such as clipping, when cars briefly run out of electrical boost, make the racing look better than some critics suggest.

BKFC sets title defense, Ferea bout for Fenway Park card

BKFC and Evergreen Fenway Events launched promotion Tuesday at Fenway Park for BKFC 92, the bare-knuckle card set for Aug. 29 at the home of the Boston Red Sox. The ring is slated to be placed at home plate, and the event will stream live worldwide on The BKFC App.

BKFC founder and president David Feldman called Boston a “city of fighters” and said the lineup is the best combat sports event the city has ever seen. He also described bare-knuckle fighting as the fastest-paced combat sport and said the Fenway show is a fitting stage for Boston.

The main event will feature featherweight champion Kai Stewart defending his title against Harry Gigliotti, with Christine Ferea facing Sofia Landi in the co-feature. Other announced bouts include Joe Lauzon against Stash Kuykendall, Taylor Starling against Kat Paprocki, Rico DiSciullo against Tray Martin, Peter Barrett against Elijah Harris and Shane Jordan against Joby Steffensmeier. Stewart and Gigliotti exchanged barbs at the press conference, with Stewart dismissing Gigliotti’s level of competition and Gigliotti predicting Stewart’s reign will end. Fighters including Lauzon, Barrett, DiSciullo, Pat Casey, Guilherme Viana, Jordan and Robinson Perez said fighting at Fenway is significant and said they are confident about their performances. Chandler Smith to leave Front Row after 2026 Truck season

Chandler Smith will not return to Front Row Motorsports in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2027, ending a two-season run with the team after the 2026 campaign. Front Row Motorsports announced the move Tuesday and said Smith will finish the season in the No. 38 Ford F-150, while both sides said they will keep pushing for wins and championships through the end of the year.

Smith joined Front Row before the 2025 season and won four races with the organization, helping turn the No. 38 truck into a regular contender. The team thanked Smith for representing the program and said it will share its 2027 plans later.

Smith has nine Truck Series victories in his career, including two this season at Daytona International Speedway and North Wilkesboro Speedway. He is third in the standings, 153 points behind teammate Layne Riggs, has already secured a spot in the 10-man Chase, and comes off a fourth-place finish Friday at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park. He has one win and four top-five finishes in his last six starts.

Larson’s tire failure ends Brickyard 400 early

Kyle Larson’s Brickyard 400 ended in Stage 1 when a sudden tire failure sent his No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet into the wall at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, knocking the defending champion out of the race. Larson had pitted early on Lap 27, climbed to second and was in position to challenge for the lead before the crash ended his afternoon.

Larson said the tire let go with no warning and called it bad luck. He said he was not pushing the car too hard when it happened, and said Hendrick Motorsports had executed its strategy well after qualifying 10th and using the pit cycle to gain track position. Crew chief Cliff Daniels had told Larson to push for a few laps to test the car’s limits, and Larson said the team would move on to Iowa.

The DNF was scored as 39th place and gave Larson one point. It extended his Cup Series winless streak to 46 races and marked his third finish of 34th or worse in his last four races. Larson entered the weekend sixth in the standings with four regular-season races remaining, adding pressure as the playoffs approached.

Schuerenberg passes 23 cars to lead Sprint Week standings

Hunter Schuerenberg moved into the lead of the USAC Indiana Sprint Week Parallax Group / ProSource Passing Master standings entering Monday’s race at Circle City Raceway on July 27, 2026. The Sikeston, Missouri, driver had passed 23 cars during Sprint Week, including 16 on Sunday at Lawrenceburg Speedway.

Gavin Miller was second in the standings with 22 points, Jake Swanson was third with 21 and Robert Ballou was fourth with 20. The top four drivers were separated by three points.

The driver who gains the most positions over the nine-race series will receive a $1,000 award. Five events remained after Monday’s race.
