Spring is in the air at the Pomona dragstrip and the best drag racers are lining up for battle. The NHRA Winternationals pre-event odds analysis presents no surprises in the Top Fuel and Pro Stock categories as the favorites continue to dominate the series. It’s a stark contrast to the Funny Car department where outsider Paul Lee finds himself leading the series two points ahead of Jack Beckman.
In addition to traditional sports betting on NHRA, the Winternationals have Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) Real Money Gaming available in a Pick’Em style on Underdog. Although “fantasy games” might seem misleading, DFS is a significant and growing category within legal sports wagering. The 65-time Top Fuel (TF) career winner Antron Brown fell short in Arizona, after a winning start to the season. He exited the competition in E2 at Firebird Motorsports Park, dropping him into second place in the standings. Brown last made the final TF race at the Winternationals in 2015, when he lost out to his old rival Langdon by 0.005 seconds.
Shawn Langdon (+659)
Two rounds, two finals, and one victory is how Shawn Langdon’s TF record reads in 2025. The 18-time TF race winner returns to his adopted home state this weekend, searching for a better return than his last trip here for Winternationals. Langdon was knocked out in E2 by the eventual losing finalist Tony Schumacher. He last meandered down Victory Lane at this track 10 years ago, beating Antron in the final.
Steve Torrence (+738)
Steve Torrence accelerated to victory at this venue in 2016, pipping Doug Kalitta by .018 seconds. The 55-time TF winner starts this weekend in ninth on the standings, after sitting out the trip to Arizona. Torrence impressed in the season opener, marginally losing out to the 2025 Gatornationals champ, Antron Brown, in E3.

Doug Kalitta has a positive relationship with the Pomona Dragstrip, with three victories under the hood for this event. The 61-year-old raced in five consecutive finals between 2016 and 2020, returning a 60% success rate in E4. Kalitta still has the goods, and arrives in California third on the standings, after losing out to Shawn Langdon in the desert last weekend.
Brittany Force (+756)
After a Q2 exit in Gainesville, Brittany Force bounced back at Arizona Nationals to make E3 before losing to the event winner, Langdon. Force starts as an outsider to win the event, but her odds are favorable for the fastest ET at +523. She clocked a 3.779 ET in the first elimination round last weekend, tying with Jasmine Salinas and only bettered by Brown and Kalitta.
Justin Ashley (+786)
New Yorker, Justin Ashley makes the trip west, hoping to win his fourth consecutive Winternationals Top Fuel event. He will hope Pomona delivers good luck and gets his season back on track, after failing to progress past E2 in 2025.
Expert Pick – Top Fuel
Justin Ashley’s record is hard to ignore at this venue, winning the last three on the trot. However, our expert pick has won as many events at this venue and is in form coming into the Winternationals. Veteran Doug Kalitta gets the nod, after making E4 in Arizona combined with his 15 final appearances at this dragstrip.

The eight-time NHRA Funny Car (FC) winner raced into the final showdown last weekend, narrowly losing out to Paul Lee. His driving in the desert lifted him to fifth on the standings, but he is still 24 points behind the leader.
Jack Beckman (+687)
Second-placed FC series driver, Jack Beckman drove into the third elimination round at Firebird Motorsports Park. A marginal improvement on his season-opening E2 exit. Beckman sits two points behind Lee and needs to go deep here to move into the pole in the series.
Bob Tasca III (+920)
Three seems to be a lucky number for Bob Tasca III, sitting in third on the standings entering the Pomona leg. He also went one round better last weekend, losing out in E3 to event winner Paul Lee.

Hagan started the season promisingly after an E3 appearance in Gainesville, losing out to Chad Green. Hagan had a tougher trip to the Arizona Nationals, where Austin Prock got the better of him, the only driver Hagan has never defeated.
Ron Capps (+1035)
Ronn Capps is an interesting longshot option because he offers exceptional value for money. Capps has made the finals five times in Pomona since 2015 with a win in 2016. The local man made the final race at Gatornationals, losing to Chad Green, but struggled in round 2 when he exited after the first elimination round.
Chad Green (+1063)
Fourth-ranked FC driver Chad Green started the season with his foot on the accelerator winning in Florida. The Texan struggled to back up his hot start in the desert, exiting the event in E1. For what it’s worth Green was beaten by the eventual Arizona Nationals FC Champion, Paul Lee.
Expert Pick – Funny Car
Despite longer odds of +929 for the event win, Matt Hagan is our expert pick for the Pomona leg, given his prior record. He’s won this event four times in the last 10 years and has one E3 appearance to his name in two rounds.

Dallas is hunting for a hat-trick of Winternational titles after trumping Hartford and Enders in the 2023 and 2024 finals, respectively.
Greg Anderson (+452)
After his return to the winner’s circle in Chandler a week ago, Greg Anderson finds himself in the series lead. The 2024 Champion last won an Winternationals PS trophy at Pomona Speedway in 2016. He will need to rise to the occasion if he is to maintain his series lead, as Dallas Glenn has made this venue his own in recent years.
Erica Enders (+670)

Cory Reed struggled to break his duck against Aaron Stansfield, after falling to him in the second elimination round last weekend. The Coloradan has only advanced to one PS final round in his career but is sitting comfortably in third on the standings.
Jeg Coughlin Jr (+1322)
Arizona didn’t go according to plan for Jeg Coughlin Jr who was outdone by Cory Reed in E1. The performance was in stark contrast to his season-opening driving, where he rode into E3, before going down to Greg Anderson.
