Ricky Warner earned his seventh Cometic Gasket Crew Chief of the Month Award after guiding Rico Abreu’s Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing No. 24 team through Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing’s 12-race September schedule. Warner finished the month atop the crew chief standings with 764 points, while Sean Strausbaugh placed second with 743 and Eric Prutzman finished third with 731. The award adds another milestone to Warner’s run with the TSR program.
Abreu builds lead
Abreu and the TSR team posted a 5.3 average finish in September and turned a 36-point lead into a 116-point championship advantage over Giovanni Scelzi and Spire Motorsports. Two results fueled the swing. Abreu won the $126,000 Skagit Nationals and added a sixth Eldora 4-Crown Nationals title, two victories that pushed the team further ahead in the title race. The combination of consistent finishes and big-event success gave TSR control of the standings as the month closed.
October reset was scheduled
The crew chief standings were set to reset for October. High Limit Racing’s October slate included races at Lakeside Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway. The September results left TSR ahead in the championship picture.
