Lower Trestles format
The WSL’s 2026 format includes a Round 1/2 structure at Lower Trestles, the final regular-season event. The early results have sharpened the postseason picture in both divisions. In the men’s field, every surfer in the top 10 has avoided Round 1 and taken only Round 2 losses. In the women’s draw, all eight surfers who started the season seeded into Round 2 are on track for the postseason.
Men’s postseason cut
Only two of the seven surfers who lost in Round 1 at the first two events are currently above the postseason cut. Every surfer in the men’s top 10 has avoided Round 1 and has taken only Round 2 losses. Oscar Berry beat roommate and friend Joel Vaughan in a Round 1 heat, but Berry is mathematically out of postseason contention. Berry said requalifying for 2027 would require an unlikely late run at Trestles and Pipeline. Mateus Herdy remains close to the cut line.
Women’s postseason cut
Only two early Round 1 losers are above the cut. All eight surfers who started the season seeded into Round 2 are on track for the postseason. Tya Zebrowski posted the event’s highest women’s heat score so far, an 8.0. With Lower Trestles serving as the regular-season finale, the women’s postseason picture remains centered on the cut and the surfers trying to stay above it.
