WMX schedule
The SMX League has announced the 2027 Women’s Motocross Championship Powered by Synchrony, and the series will feature six rounds run alongside the Pro Motocross Championship. The WMX season is set to open May 28-29, 2027, at Pala Raceway in Southern California, starting the championship before the summer schedule begins to unfold. The calendar then moves through Hangtown Motocross Classic, Thunder Valley Motocross Park, Unadilla MX, Budds Creek Motocross Park and Ironman Raceway, giving WMX a national route that stretches across the summer. The season is scheduled to end August 27-28, 2027, so the championship will move from late spring into late summer without leaving the Pro Motocross framework. That alignment keeps each round attached to the same broader series and gives WMX a steady place on the national motocross calendar. It also gives the championship a clear run of events, with each stop built into the schedule before the title comes down to the final weekend in August.
WMX title race
Reigning three-time champion Lachlan Turner will chase a fourth straight title in 2027, and the field already includes several riders who can push the pace. Charli Cannon is among the challengers, as is Mikayla Nielsen, while newcomer Mayla Herrick joins the mix as another name in the title conversation. Turner enters the season with the most recent stretch of success, and the championship picture starts with that run at the top of the standings. The challengers bring a different kind of pressure, with Cannon and Nielsen listed as challengers and Herrick arriving as the new face in the group. That mix gives the season a direct setup, because the defending champion has a target and the rest of the field has clear names to chase. The six-round format also leaves little space for a slow start, since every stop on the schedule carries weight and every result can shape the title race. With Turner pursuing a fourth straight crown and three challengers already identified, the season opens with a straightforward storyline and a clear standard for the rest of the field.
WMX coverage
Fans will be able to follow the championship through NBC Sports, Peacock and the SMX Video Pass, which will carry coverage of all six championship rounds and the WMX Invitational. The invitational returns September 25, 2027, at the Monster Energy SMX World Championship Final, and the venue has not yet been announced. That adds a second phase to the WMX season after the championship rounds end in August, with the invitational giving the series one more event at the close of the schedule. The coverage plan keeps the entire championship package together across the summer and into the fall finale, with the same platforms carrying both the regular rounds and the invitational. It also gives the series a direct link to the SMX League’s final showcase, which extends WMX beyond the six-round championship calendar. For viewers, that means the title race and the invitational will be available in one place across the season, from the opening rounds in late May through the final event in September.
