Jett Lawrence: Despite the setback in St. Louis, we’re still expecting the 450SX rookie to get back on track in Foxborough. Prior to last week’s penalty-riddled 8th place finish, Lawrence had reeled off three straight victories and looked to be in full control of the title chase. The Australian phenom has shown incredible speed and racecraft all season, notching five wins through the first 11 rounds. Look for the #18 to come out swinging as he aims to reassert his championship authority.

Eli Tomac: Is the 52-time 450SX main event winner officially back? Tomac was flawless in St. Louis, going 1-1-1 for his first victory since returning from a torn Achilles last May. The Colorado native looked like his vintage self, using his patented combination of raw speed and savvy race management to dominate the Triple Crown format. At +591 for the win, Tomac presents solid value – he’s a proven commodity with a long history of catching fire down the stretch of championship campaigns. Do not overlook ET3.

Cooper Webb: The two-time 450SX champion has been steadily chipping away at Lawrence’s points lead, and now sits just 8 markers back of P1 in the standings. Webb is perhaps the craftiest racer in the field, with an uncanny knack for capitalizing on others’ mistakes and maximizing every opportunity. The KTM ace tends to come on strong in the second half of seasons, and he’s carrying a ton of momentum after his podium in St. Louis. Webb knows time is running out to make his move – expect a spirited charge from the #2 in Foxborough.

Chase Sexton: The defending champion has had an up-and-down title defense, mixing flashes of brilliance with costly mistakes and inconsistency. But Sexton reminded everyone of his outright speed by setting the fastest lap in St. Louis and running near the front all night. The Illinois native won this race last year, and he’ll need a repeat performance to keep his slim title hopes alive. At generous +1019 odds, Sexton is well worth a flyer.

Ken Roczen: Speaking of fast-but-inconsistent, Roczen falls into a similar category as his HRC Honda teammate Sexton. The German has all the talent in the world, but his 2024 results have oscillated between podium contention and battling just inside the top-10. That said, Roczen is more than capable of winning on any given night, especially if he gets a start near the front. He’ll be looking to break out of a minor slump and could represent a savvy long-shot play.

Aaron Plessinger: Plessinger, on the other hand, has been the model of quiet consistency in 2024, currently residing 6th in the points on the strength of eight top-10s in 12 rounds. The Red Bull KTM rider isn’t necessarily a week-in, week-out threat for the win, but he does have a couple podiums on the year and could be primed for another strong outing at one of his better tracks. Plessinger’s well-rounded skillset and unflappable demeanor make him a rider to watch if the favorites falter. While an outright win might be a tall order, a mistake-free ride could easily see him in the mix for a top-3 result.

Expert Pick for Supercross Foxborough 2024

While the odds favor Lawrence to bounce back, our analysis suggests Eli Tomac is poised for a strong run of results. His performance in St. Louis was a clear indication that he’s fully recovered from injury and back to his championship-winning form. With the pressure of the title chase no longer a factor, we expect Tomac to ride with newfound freedom and confidence. Based on his history of late-season surges and the undeniable speed he displayed last weekend, our Expert Pick is for the three-time champion to secure another victory in Foxborough at an enticing +591 price.

Pre-St. Louis, Jett Lawrence was an overwhelming -19900 favorite to capture the 450SX title. However, after Webb’s significant points gain, those odds have tightened to -510, with Webb now at +257 after being +3932 just one round ago. Chase Sexton has also seen his chances improve, moving from +4662 to +3244. Interestingly, despite his impressive victory in St. Louis, Eli Tomac‘s championship odds have actually lengthened from +8303 to +16,567, suggesting the title will ultimately come down to Lawrence and Webb, with Tomac’s resurgence coming a bit too late to mount a serious challenge. Meanwhile, Shane McElrath has entered the championship conversation at +16,567, after not even being included in the top-5 prior to St. Louis, a testament to the increasingly tight battle at the top of the leaderboard
