Silas Richmond tops On The Clock’s 2026 NLL Big Board

On The Clock’s updated 2026 NLL Draft Big Board ranks Silas Richmond No. 1, giving him the edge heading into the draft. Dylan Ferrandis to Retire After SMX Finale at Thunder Ridge

Dylan Ferrandis said this weekend’s SMX World Championship finale at Thunder Ridge will be his final professional race, ending a career that brought wins and championships in both the 250 and 450 classes. Ferrandis said on social media that he wanted to finish on a high note with the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/Factory Ducati team, and he has been leading Ducati’s new factory program in 2026.

Ferrandis said he has been riding dirt bikes since age 3 and began his professional career in the FIM World Motocross Championship in Europe before moving to the United States in 2017 to race for Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing. His career included 15 wins, two Rookie of the Year awards, the 2019 and 2020 250SX West Division titles, the 2020 250 Pro Motocross championship and the 2021 450 Pro Motocross title.

An injury in 2022 interrupted his title defense, and he entered the finale ranked seventh in 450SMX points. Ferrandis was set to make his final 450 start with 21 premier-class podiums and six pole positions, along with career totals of 30 250SX podiums, six 250SX wins, two 450SX podiums and 15 Pro Motocross overall victories.

MotoGP confirms Valencia as 2027 season finale

MotoGP confirmed that Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia will host the 2027 season finale, making it only the second date announced for the 2027 calendar. The Valencian Grand Prix is scheduled for Nov. 26-28, 2027, though one report listed Nov. 26-29. MotoGP said Valencia fits the role because of its history of title deciders and its stadium-style layout. Deputy CEO Carlos Ezpeleta said the circuit, city and fans make it a fitting place to end the season, and Valencia government president Juanfran Pérez Llorca called the confirmation excellent news for the region.

MotoGP said the rest of the 2027 calendar will be revealed on Friday, Sept. 25 at 12 p.m. CET. Reports also varied on the season opener, with one saying Buriram in Thailand will host the first round from March 5-7, 2027, and another saying the season will begin with a launch in Brazil on Feb. 21, 2027, after preseason testing ends by mid-February.

MotoGP said calendar planning has been delayed across motorsport because of the Middle Eastern conflict. The series is also preparing for the 2026 season finale in Valencia later in the year, with expanded fan events planned around that race.

NASCAR posts 36-car Cup, Truck fields for Kansas

NASCAR’s September weekend at Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas, will bring the Cup Series, Truck Series and ARCA Menards Series to the 1.5-mile track, with both the Cup and Truck entry lists showing 36 entries. The ARCA Menards Series list was still pending.

The Cup Series moves from Bristol to Kansas on Sunday for the fourth race of the Chase presented by Mobil 1 and the 30th points-paying race of the 2026 season. Chase Elliott is the defending winner at Kansas, and the 36-car Hollywood Casino 400 field includes Ross Chastain, Kyle Larson, Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano, William Byron and Shane Van Gisbergen. Austin Hill is listed in the No. 133 alternate Cup entry. Ryan Blaney and Carson Hocevar also arrive at Kansas after their Bristol pit-road incident, with Blaney sixth in the standings, 52 points behind leader Larson, and Hocevar 85 points back.

The Craftsman Truck Series also heads to Kansas from Bristol for Saturday’s race, the second event in The Chase presented by Mobil 1 and the 20th points-paying race of the season. Thirty-six trucks are entered, including Grant Enfinger, Corey LaJoie, Conor Daly, Toni Breidinger, Layne Riggs, Ty Majeski and Ben Rhodes. No Chase drivers finished in the top five at Bristol, and Riggs remains the championship leader by three points over Kaden Honeycutt. The Truck race is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on FS1.

All 22 Formula 1 cars join Hot Wheels Infinite Rush

Formula 1 will add all 22 cars from the 2026 grid to Hot Wheels Infinite Rush in March 2027 through a new F1 Car Collection Pack, marking the first time officially licensed Formula 1 cars will be playable in a Hot Wheels franchise game. Developed with Milestone and Mattel, the cars were recreated from their Hot Wheels die-cast versions and placed in the game’s Speeder class, the fastest tier available.

The release extends a partnership between Formula 1, Hot Wheels, Mattel and Milestone that began in 2024 and has already produced F1-branded die-cast cars. Formula 1 chief commercial officer Emily Prazer said the crossover builds on fan interest in those releases and gives players a chance to race their favorite drivers’ cars against friends and family. Milestone publishing director Andrea Loiudice called the partnership a milestone for the company.

Hot Wheels Infinite Rush launches with more than 150 vehicles, and the F1 pack will add the full grid to its toy-scale circuits alongside Hot Wheels tracks and challenges. Players will be able to use the cars in open-world, challenge and race modes, and the game is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, ROG Xbox Ally, ROG Xbox Ally X and PC.

Cadillac Faces Pressure in Crucial Three-Race Stretch

Cadillac heads into a key three-race stretch in its first Formula 1 season, starting with the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku before flyaway rounds in Malaysia and Singapore. The team is bringing small aerodynamic upgrades to Baku and a new-spec Ferrari power unit for Sergio Perez, with Friday practice set to evaluate the changes. Cadillac and team principal Marcin Budkowski described the weekend as an important, useful and demanding test of whether the team’s growing infrastructure can handle a full F1 campaign.

He said the team can still make gains this year through reliability, operations and car quality, while Perez said he was disappointed by Cadillac’s lack of progress and felt it had been stalling in recent races.

World of Outlaws Late Models return to I-55 for King of the Arch

The World of Outlaws Late Model Series will return to I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park in Pevely, Missouri, for the King of the Arch doubleheader on Sept. 25-26. Friday’s program will feature a 40-lap race paying $12,000 to win, and Saturday’s main event will be 55 laps with a $20,000 winner’s check. The MARS Modified Championship will also race both nights.

Nick Hoffman will make his first World of Outlaws start since winning the World 100 when he returns to one of his home tracks at I-55. Hoffman trails points leader Bobby Pierce by 112 points and would need a major swing to keep his title hopes alive. Pierce has 20 wins in 2026 and a 3.58 average finish, and he was sidelined from the World 100 by an engine failure at Eldora.

Ryan Gustin will also be part of the field as he looks to rebound after losing the World 100 after leading 88 laps. Dennis Erb Jr., the current full-timer with the most I-55 wins, sits ninth in the standings.

Mayer leaves Haas, returns to JR Motorsports for 2027

Sam Mayer will return to JR Motorsports for the 2027 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series season, driving the team’s No. 1 Chevrolet with Starkey as his full-season primary sponsor. Mayer said he is happy to be back with the organization that gave him his start, while Dale Earnhardt Jr. said JR Motorsports is excited to reunite with a driver the team believes it knows how to win with.

Mayer began his O’Reilly Auto Parts Series career with JR Motorsports in 2021 and won seven of his eight career series races with the team from 2021 to 2024. During that stretch, he also collected 33 top-five finishes, 57 top-10 finishes and a Championship 4 appearance in 2023. Mayer also raced in JR Motorsports’ Late Model program in 2018 and 2019, winning the Bobby Isaac Memorial.

The move will end Mayer’s two-year stint with Haas Factory Team after the 2026 season. He currently drives the No. 41 Chevrolet there, and said he remains focused on finishing 2026 first. Haas Factory Team thanked Mayer for his two seasons and for delivering the organization’s first win, while saying its 2027 driver lineup has not yet been determined.

Poor Grip and Tire Degradation Sink Yamaha at Austrian GP

Yamaha endured one of its worst MotoGP weekends of the season at the Austrian Grand Prix, where poor grip, heavy wheelspin, electronics issues and severe rear-tyre wear on Michelin’s reinforced casing left Jack Miller and his teammates shocked and embarrassed at the Red Bull Ring. Neither the factory team nor Pramac scored points, and Fabio Quartararo was Yamaha’s best finisher in 17th after qualifying ninth.

Miller’s race unravelled after he moved ahead of Franco Morbidelli and Pol Espargaro early on, but by about lap 13 or 14 he said he was struggling to keep the bike from spinning in a straight line. He said the pace had fallen into “Bagger times,” and he chose to keep riding rather than retire. Miller finished 21st and last, 1m 7.530s behind winner Pedro Acosta.

Miller said his rear Michelin tire degraded heavily in the closing laps, dropping his pace from the mid-to-high 1m32s to 1:40.225 on the final lap and leaving him unable to use full throttle on Spielberg’s straights. He called the performance embarrassing and said Yamaha had the worst degradation among the bikes affected by the special high-temperature-resistant tire compound. Yamaha riders occupied four of the last five finishing places, with Morbidelli 18th, Alex Rins 19th and Toprak Razgatlioglu 20th. Miller said Yamaha could return to standard tires at Motegi, but he expected similar problems again at Mandalika when the stiffer casing returns.
