Brad Binder's KTM Future Unclear After 2027 Rider Shuffle

NXTbets Pro | Published On: July 9, 2026

Binder future

Brad Binder’s MotoGP future is unsettled after KTM confirmed he will not ride for its factory team in the future. Pedro Acosta backed his teammate’s case, saying Binder “definitely” deserves a ride and that he would “give him my bike” because of the South African’s work ethic and commitment. Binder has been a KTM rider throughout his entire MotoGP career, but the company’s latest reshuffle has pushed him into the open market. He said his plans are up in the air and added that it will likely take a couple of weeks before his next move becomes clearer. His manager is already working through options, and Binder said World Superbike remains a possible route if he does not secure another MotoGP seat. The situation leaves a proven rider waiting on the market while KTM redraws its plans around other names. Binder still has a history with the brand that runs deep, but the factory decision has put the spotlight on where he fits next and how quickly that answer arrives.

KTM reshuffle

KTM has already filled key parts of its future lineup by confirming Alex Marquez and Fabio di Giannantonio for its factory plans. Acosta is also leaving KTM for Ducati’s factory team alongside Marc Marquez, which adds another major change to the reshuffle and takes one of the team’s youngest high-profile riders out of the picture. That leaves Binder outside the factory frame after years of service to the manufacturer. His record with KTM gives the move extra weight. He has spent every MotoGP season of his career with the brand, but the results have slowed in recent years. Binder has not won a MotoGP race since 2021, and his last podium came at the Qatar season opener, where he finished second. Those numbers explain why his market status has become a talking point even as respected voices still rate him highly. Acosta’s public support underlined that view. He pointed to Binder’s commitment and the way he works inside a team, two qualities that have kept him in the conversation even as the rider market tightens around him.

Tech3 options

Tech3 is the only remaining team without a finalized lineup, but Binder is not viewed as a leading candidate for that seat. That has kept his future tied to a narrow set of possibilities and made the next round of decisions even more important. Neil Hodgson has already gone public with the argument that Tech3 team owner Guenther Steiner should think again about leaving Binder out. Steiner will have his first season of influence over rider selection in the future, and Tech3 is expected to weigh a rookie alongside a more experienced MotoGP rider. That formula leaves the team searching for balance rather than just filling seats, and it makes the final call more complex for a rider like Binder. He brings experience, a long KTM history and a track record that still carries respect in the paddock. He also brings uncertainty, because his immediate path depends on how the rest of the market settles. If Tech3 passes, the remaining options narrow further. Binder has already acknowledged that he may need a few weeks before the picture clears, and his manager’s work now sits at the center of that wait as the MotoGP grid continues to take shape.
