Turner sweeps Thunder Valley

Lachlan "Lala" Turner swept Round 2 of the 2026 Women’s Motocross Championship at Thunder Valley Motocross Park in Lakewood, Colorado, on June 6-7, 2026, posting 1-1 moto scores for her second straight overall victory. Turner rode a Yamaha YZ250F and won Moto 1 by 27.8 seconds, then added Moto 2 after a crash that forced a midrace recovery. She repassed Charli Cannon in Moto 2 and crossed the line 2.7 seconds clear. Turner also received a 10-point penalty for jumping a red cross flag, a sanction that did not alter the finishing order. The sweep extended her streak of moto victories to seven consecutive motos dating back to last season, and it marked her second consecutive overall and second straight 1-1 sweep to open the season. Turner combined race speed with consistency across two motos to keep control of the event, and the margins in each race underscored the contrast between a dominant Moto 1 and a far tighter, contested Moto 2 where she overcame a mistake to secure the overall.

Cannon qualifies fastest, races through pain

Charli Cannon qualified fastest and finished second overall with 2-2 moto results, even after a crash in Moto 1 that left her riding through shoulder pain. Cannon led the way out of qualifying and then held position in both motos to lock down the runner-up spot on points. Moto 1’s incident cost her time on the track and forced her to manage discomfort for the remainder of the round. Turner’s crash and on-track repass in Moto 2 set up a tense finish between the two leaders, but the order on the track held once Turner reclaimed the lead. The 10-point penalty assessed to Turner for jumping a red cross flag did not affect Cannon’s finishing position, so Cannon collected second overall based on her pair of second-place moto finishes. Cannon’s performance preserved championship contention and kept the title fight close as the series moved on from Thunder Valley.

Championship standings tight after Thunder Valley

Turner left Thunder Valley leading the championship by four points over Cannon, with Taylah McCutcheon sitting third, 17 points back of Turner. McCutcheon secured her first WMX overall podium in only her second WMX start, finishing third on a 3-4 moto card while coping with tonsillitis during the round. Her result underscored rapid progress in the series and added another challenger into the points picture. The standings after Round 2 show Turner with momentum from consecutive overall wins and a seven-moto winning run, Cannon as the closest pursuer after a gritty effort through injury, and McCutcheon emerging as a rising presence on the podium in limited starts. The championship will head into its next stop with Turner carrying a narrow lead, opponents encouraged by recent runs, and a developing three-rider order that sets up a compact points fight.
