Outlaws Open July 9 in Michigan After Fourth Off

World of Outlaws Return to Michigan for Hartford Speedway Opener

NXTbets Pro | Published On: June 25, 2026

July slate

July opens the busiest stretch of the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car season. The series comes back from the Fourth of July break and rolls into a 24-day run that leaves little room to settle in. Thirteen races fill the month, spread across eight tracks in five states and one additional event in Canada. That reach gives the schedule a wide footprint, and it keeps teams moving from one stop to the next with very little down time.

The month also brings prize money that raises the stakes at several stops. Six of the scheduled races pay at least $20,000 to the winner, and one event carries a six-figure payout. That mix gives July more weight than a standard midseason stretch. It is part of the World of Outlaws’ Summer of Money, a group of high-paying races that turns the month into a demanding test of speed and consistency. Teams have to stay sharp through a dense stretch of dates and different tracks. One mistake can cost a night. One fast setup can change the tone of the whole run. The series does not ease into the month. It starts fast and stays there.

Hartford opener

Hartford Speedway opens the month and anchors the first major stop on the July schedule. The Pure Michigan Showdown puts the series back in Michigan and gives the state a place on the calendar for the first time since 2019. That return matters because Michigan had already lost a June date to weather, and Hartford restores the state to the route when the month begins. The track now gets the first crack at a run that is packed with races and prize money.

The opening stop also gives the series a chance to reset after the holiday break. Hartford sits at the front of a schedule that asks teams to travel, unload and race again over and over through the month. The opener sets the tone for the rest of the July slate. A strong night there matters because the month moves quickly after that. The schedule does not leave much time to recover from a bad finish or build momentum slowly. Hartford starts the run and puts Michigan back in the mix at the exact point when the series needs a fast return to action.

Gravel history

David Gravel has won the last two races at Hartford Speedway, and he returns there with Big Game Motorsports. That record gives him a clear target on a track that already suits his style. Hartford has delivered twice in a row for Gravel, and the Pure Michigan Showdown gives him another chance to keep that run going when the series gets back to Michigan.

His history at Hartford also adds another layer to the opening night. The event does more than restart the schedule after the Fourth of July break. It brings back a track where one driver has already set the standard in recent visits. Gravel enters the race with that edge, and the field has to deal with it right away. The combination of a familiar winner, a returning state and a month full of high-paying races gives the first stop extra weight. July is already the busiest stretch on the World of Outlaws calendar. Hartford Speedway begins it with a track record that points straight to Gravel and a schedule that leaves no time to look back.
