Tsolov Says Racing Bulls Have Made No 2027 F1 Promise

Tsolov’s Formula 2 push
Red Bull Junior Team driver Nikola Tsolov has put himself in firm control of the Formula 2 championship, and his run at the front has given his Formula 1 future fresh momentum. Tsolov leads Gabriele Minì by 20 points with five rounds left in the Formula 2 season, and he has piled up six wins in his best single-seater campaign so far. His Silverstone sweep, which included both the Sprint race and the Feature race, pushed him into the record book as the first Formula 2 driver to win three consecutive races. That form has made him the clear benchmark in the series and kept him in the center of the conversation around the next step in his career. He also finished runner-up in Formula 3 last season, another sign that his rise through the ranks has come quickly and with results to match.
Red Bull’s role
Tsolov has credited Red Bull’s backing for helping shape his progress both on and off the track. He said the Red Bull Junior Team has made him more consistent since he joined ahead of 2025, and he pointed to that support as a key part of his development. He also said his late-2025 Formula 2 run alongside Arvid Lindblad taught him what an F1-level work ethic looks like, a lesson he has carried into this season. The Bulgarian driver has built his strongest run yet while carrying the weight of expectations that come with a spot in the Red Bull program, and his own comments suggest he sees that structure as one of the main reasons for the jump in his results. With six wins, a championship lead and a record streak behind him, he has given Red Bull plenty to value as the season moves into its final stages.
Formula 1 prospects
The next step still is not set. Tsolov says speculation about his Formula 1 future is turning toward 2027, but he says nothing concrete has been decided and he has received no guarantees or clear promises from the team. He has kept his focus on Formula 2, saying any promotion will depend on continued performance, and that stance fits the way the rest of his campaign has unfolded. He is linked to a possible Racing Bulls promotion in Formula 1, but he still lacks the FIA Super Licence needed to race in the series. Tsolov has 25 Super Licence points and needs a top-five Formula 2 finish or more points from FP1 outings to qualify. His first Formula 1 test comes later this month at Imola in a 2025 Racing Bulls VCARB02, a chance to take a first direct step into F1 machinery. Campos Racing boss Adrian Campos has said Tsolov is ready for Formula 1 and backed him for a possible opportunity in 2027 after Silverstone. For now, the path remains tied to results, with the title fight and the licence race moving together as the season enters its decisive stretch.
