Bobby Pierce streak
Bobby Pierce kept the World of Outlaws Late Model Series in his grip at Norman County Raceway, winning the feature and finishing a perfect six-race sweep of the northern swing. He took the lead on the opening lap of the 50-lap race and never gave it back. Nick Hoffman chased him to the line, but Pierce finished more than five seconds clear and took the $20,000 winner’s purse. The victory gave Pierce six straight World of Outlaws wins, a run that matched the series records set by Darrell Lanigan and Josh Richards. He fell one win short of the first seven-race streak in series history, yet the night still added another strong result to a stretch that has separated him from the rest of the field. Pierce has won 15 World of Outlaws Late Model Series features this season and nine of his last 10 starts. He also won 10 of 11 races during the month, including his first Dirt Late Model Dream victory at Eldora Speedway, and his earnings for the month reached $271,500. The win pushed his championship lead over Hoffman to 76 points and kept him within reach of the series single-season win record of 18.
Norman County results
The race behind Pierce sorted out with Hoffman second, Ryan Gustin third, Tim McCreadie fourth and Jonathan Davenport fifth. That finish put several of the series’ regular front-runners in the top five, but none could match the pace Pierce set from the start. Norman County Raceway opened the Minnesota portion of the northern swing, a four-race run through the state that has turned into a strong stage for Pierce and the World of Outlaws tour. Hoffman, McCreadie, Dennis Erb Jr. and Dustin Sorensen were identified as contenders for the trip, and the results at Norman County showed how thin the margin can be when the series puts its best late-model drivers on the same track. Pierce had entered the Minnesota races with five consecutive wins on the swing, and he extended that streak with another flag-to-flag run. The performance also backed up the form he has carried through the season, where clean starts and steady pace have kept him in control once he reaches the front. At Norman County, he reached the front immediately and stayed there until the checkered flag.
Minnesota swing ahead
Attention now shifts to Deer Creek Speedway for the NAPA Auto Parts Gopher 50, the next stop in Minnesota. The program is set to pay $10,000 to the winner on the first two nights and $40,000 to the winner on the final night, with fireworks, concerts, autograph sessions and other fan activities on the schedule. The event gives the field another chance to close in on Pierce, but his recent form sets a high bar. He has already piled up 15 series wins, stayed hot through the month and turned the northern swing into a showcase for his pace from the opening lap. The margin he built at Norman County only sharpened that picture. He controlled the race from the start, finished far ahead of Hoffman and left the rest of the top five to settle behind him. With a 76-point cushion in the championship standings and the single-season win record still within sight, Pierce carries both momentum and pressure into the rest of the Minnesota stretch. The contenders around him will get another shot at Deer Creek, but Pierce has already shown how quickly he can make a race his own.
