Briggs Danner Gets First USAC Win; Cummins Keeps Points Lead

Briggs Danner, an Allentown, Pa., native, won the Justin Owen Memorial presented by Tempstar at Lawrenceburg Speedway, taking the 30-lap feature for the USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car Series on the three-eighths-mile Lawrenceburg oval. Danner started fifth, seized the lead just before the midway point and rode the rim to the checkered flag, leading laps 13 through 30 and earning the Clean Air award. He held off multiple late restarts, including repeated challenges from Kyle Cummins, to secure the victory.

The win was Danner’s first in the USAC AMSOIL series this season and his second at Lawrenceburg; it was the eighth national sprint car victory of his career, tying him with Mike Bliss, Chet Fillip, Johnny Rutherford, Joe Saldana and Jake Swanson for 62nd on the series’ all-time wins list. Kyle Cummins led the opening 12 laps and finished second, retaining the national points lead at 527 points after the race. Justin Grant finished third.

Danner posted the second-fastest qualifying lap at 14.223 seconds, while C.J. Leary was the LearnLab fast qualifier at 14.210. The Lawrenceburg program also featured a flipped semifinal by Kyle Shipley and Hard Charger honors for David Gasper, who advanced from 23rd to 14th.

Justin Grant Overtakes on Lap 17, Beats Mitchel Moles

Justin Grant won the USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car 30-lap feature at Red Hill, taking the lead on lap 17 and holding off Mitchel Moles for the victory. Jake Swanson led the early portion of the feature (laps 1–4) and Robert Ballou led from lap 5 through lap 16. Bryce Andrews flipped on lap 13; no injuries were reported.

Mitchel Moles set a new Red Hill qualifying record with a 14.327-second lap. Grant also topped the Dirt Draft Hot Laps with a 14.594-second time and earned the K&N Clean Air award for leading 14 laps.

After Red Hill the series standings showed Logan Seavey with 459 points, Kyle Cummins 454, Jake Swanson 439, Justin Grant 437 and Mitchel Moles 423. Moles had been listed eighth in an earlier weekend preview but moved to fifth in the standings after Red Hill. USAC resumed its national slate with a Midwest doubleheader — Red Hill and the Chuck Amati Classic at Paragon — with the Chuck Amati Classic run under USAC sanctioning for the first time. Logan Seavey entered the weekend as the points leader and remained the leader; he is the only multi-feature winner through six Florida rounds and was the most recent winner at Red Hill in June 2025, leading all 32 laps in the No. 57. Jake Swanson sits fourth in the standings after a Volusia win and six consecutive top-10 finishes and recently won the unsanctioned No Way Out 40 at Paragon.

Trey Osborne, who earned his first USAC victory in February at Ocala and sits ninth in points, recently left his full-time job to pursue the full national USAC schedule. C.J. Leary will run a 30-race program in the Fox Brothers–Brayden Fox No. 53, a car that carries 19 USAC feature wins in its history. Jadon Rogers recently returned from a broken fibula to finish third in a Midwest Thunder event. The series is next scheduled to race April 11 at Lawrenceburg Speedway.

Fox No. 53 to contest 30 USAC Sprint races with Leary

The Fox No. 53 will contest a concentrated 30-race USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car slate in 2026 with C.J. Leary sharing the seat for events focused in Indiana, Ohio and Illinois. Leary’s Sprint Car debut in the No. 53 is scheduled for April 3 at Red Hill Raceway in Sumner, Illinois and April 4 at Paragon Speedway in Indiana for the Chuck Amati Classic; when he is not in the No. 53 he plans to run other USAC events in a different ride.

Leary will split his 2026 USAC program with a full-time Silver Crown ride for Team AZ-Petty-Rossi/Curb-Agajanian, piloting the No. 21 DRC/Stanton-powered car in an 11-race dirt-and-pavement Silver Crown schedule that opens May 8-9 at the Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson. Teammate Mario Clouser will drive the No. 20 DRC/Stanton-powered entry; Clouser, from Auburn, Illinois, drove for three teams in 2025, led 42 of 100 laps at the Kansas State Fairgrounds, earned his first IRP pole and compiled podiums en route to a career-best fifth in the 2025 Silver Crown standings. Team AZ confirmed primary technical support from DRC/Stanton and commercial backing from Avanti Windows & Doors, Curb Records, Pella and AMSOIL for the 2026 Silver Crown campaign.

Leary brings strong USAC credentials to both programs: he is the 2019 USAC National Sprint Car champion, has 24 career USAC series wins and entered the announcement with a streak of 321 consecutive USAC feature starts dating to 2017, six starts short of Justin Grant’s benchmark of 327. His Silver Crown résumé includes a runner-up finish in the 2025 championship with two late-season wins at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park (pavement) and Du Quoin State Fairgrounds (dirt).

The Fox No. 53 program is tied to the Fox family and the Gohr Racing legacy, with longtime mechanic Galen Fox involved. The car carries 19 career USAC National Sprint Car feature wins—two by Brad Fox and 17 by Jon Stanbrough—which the No. 53 team will look to add to during the concentrated 2026 slate.

USAC posts schedules for Hangtown, Leffler, Turkey Night

The USAC NOS Energy Drink Midget National Championship has published detailed event information and logistics for three California races this November, including schedules, formats, entry/ticketing and technical rules for teams and fans. All three events are overseen by Race Director Kirk Spridgeon and will offer live video on FloRacing, audio on the USAC app and Mixlr, and live updates on USAC’s Facebook and X accounts; additional timing and scoreboard services (MyRacePass and Race Monitor) will be available for the Jason Leffler Memorial. USAC membership is required where noted to earn championship points and contingency awards.

The Hangtown 100 at Placerville Speedway (1/4-mile) is set for Saturday, Nov. 14. Pits open at 2:00 p.m. PT, front gates and the drivers meeting open at 4:00 p.m., and cars go on track at 5:00 p.m. USAC’s midget program for Hangtown eliminates traditional qualifying and uses 10-lap heat races with seed-based inversion, followed by a 12-lap semi-feature and a 100-lap feature; caution laps will not count in the feature and an open red flag is scheduled between laps 40 and 60. Transfer numbers will be set by car count. Tire rules require an SP3-stamped right-rear tire, and changing that tire will drop a car to the tail of the feature field. Entry fees are $30 for USAC members and $40 for non-members; the winner’s purse is $10,000 and awards 70 points.

The Jason Leffler Memorial at Bakersfield Speedway — Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway (1/3-mile) — will run Tuesday, Nov. 24. Pits open at 2:00 p.m. PT, gates at 4:00 p.m., drivers meeting at 4:30 p.m., and on-track action at 5:00 p.m. Adult general admission is $30, kids 6–12 $15 and children 5 and under free; pit passes are $50 (or $45 for USAC members). The on-track format calls for two-lap qualifying (fastest lap counts), 8-lap heat races with a six-car inversion, a 12-lap semi-feature and a 30-lap feature. The winner’s purse is $12,500. The event lists a mandatory driver radio frequency of 464.5500, and drivers must be USAC members to earn points and contingency awards. Live video will stream on FloRacing, with audio on the USAC app and Mixlr and live updates on USAC’s social accounts; timing/scoreboard info will be provided via MyRacePass and Race Monitor.

The 85th ARP Turkey Night Grand Prix at Ventura Raceway (1/5-mile) is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 28, with USAC Midget practice and Ultimate Sprint Car Series activity on Friday, Nov. 27. Pits will open at 11:00 a.m. PT both days; a drivers meeting is set for 2:30 p.m., grandstands open at 3:00 p.m. and on-track action begins at 3:30 p.m. Qualifying will use two-lap runs with the fastest lap counting and the top 10 positions locked, followed by three qualifying races (top four transfer from each) and a Last Chance Qualifier that advances the top four to the feature. The main feature will be 98 laps, limited to 26 starters. Officials will stamp the right‑rear tire for qualifying, heats and the feature and changing that tire will send a car to the tail of the field; a muffler is required under the event technical rules. Entry fees are $30 for USAC members and $40 for non-members; advance ticketing lists Friday grandstand $22, Friday pit $40 (members)/$50 (non-members), Saturday general admission $40, reserved $50 and Saturday pit $50. The Turkey Night winner will receive $15,000 and 70 points, with second place paid $6,000 and 67 points. Live coverage will be on FloRacing with audio on the USAC app and Mixlr and live updates on Facebook and X.

The facility will host USAC Midget practice and a full NOW600/Jay-Husker Non-Wing Micro Sprints program on July 9, with a free shrimp boil/BBQ that evening. General admission for July 10 is $25 (reduced to $10 for high school students and younger); all-access pit passes are $40 and will be available at the pit gate, with advance tickets sold online.

The USAC Midget National stop at Wayne County Speedway in Wayne City, Ill., is set for Friday, Sept. 4 on the track’s 1/8-mile dirt oval. Qualifying will be two laps with the fastest lap counting; heat races are 10 laps with a top-six inversion (heat/semi structure may be adjusted by car count), semifinals are 12 laps, and there may be a 10-lap C-Main depending on entries. The Wayne County feature is scheduled for 40 laps, limited to 24 starters, with a six-car inversion up front. All sessions require use of a stamped SP3 right-rear tire; changing the stamped SP3 right-rear tire moves a car to the tail unless a verified puncture is documented. Entry fees are $30 for USAC members and $40 for non-members, and a driver radio on frequency 464.5500 is mandatory for competitors. Broadcast and timing platforms match the series coverage noted above, with Mixlr audio available for this stop.

USAC releases differ on race format, $35,000 vs $7,500

The USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship will headline the 59th Avanti Windows & Doors Western World Championships at Central Arizona Raceway in Casa Grande, Arizona, scheduled for late October on the track’s 3/8‑mile dirt oval. Sources differ on the exact date — Release 1 lists October 24 and Release 2 lists October 23 — and organizers said the program will include Avanti‑branded CRA and Southwest sprint car divisions; both releases list Kirk Spridgeon as race director.

The two releases provide different on‑track schedules. Release 1 lists pits opening at 2:00 p.m. MST, gates at 3:00 p.m., a drivers’ meeting at 4:00 p.m. and hot laps at 5:00 p.m., while Release 2 lists pits opening at 2:00 p.m., gates at 4:00 p.m., a drivers’ meeting at 5:00 p.m. and hot laps at 6:00 p.m. Release 1 also specifies a mandatory driver radio frequency of 464.5500; that frequency does not appear in Release 2.

The releases also differ on competitive format and payout. Release 1 describes qualifying races with top‑five transfers, a multi‑segment Underwood Dash that pays $5,000 to the winner, a 12‑lap semi‑feature and a 35‑lap main for 24 starters, and lists the feature winner purse at $35,000 (second $5,000, third $3,000). Release 2 describes two‑lap qualifying with multi‑heat inversion formats, a 30‑lap feature and reports the feature winner would receive 70 USAC points and a $7,500 purse.

Ticketing, entry and broadcast details are consistent across the releases on the main items: general admission at the gate will be $40 for non‑reserved seating and $50 for reserved seating, with children 10 and under admitted free; entry fees are $30 for USAC members and $40 for non‑members, and drivers must be USAC members to earn points and contingency awards. Both releases state fans can watch on FloRacing, listen via the USAC app (via Mixlr), follow live timing on MyRacePass and Race Monitor, and get updates on USAC’s Facebook and X pages; Release 1 describes pit passes as being “priced by age group,” while Release 2 provides amounts of $45 for ages 13+ and $30 for ages 5–12. The principal inconsistencies to note are the exact event date, the on‑track start times and the competitive format/prize structure; consult Release 1 and Release 2 to confirm which schedule and payout details you should follow.
